You can never make too many cushions, right?

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

― F. Scott Fitzgerald

Happy Tuesday friends! The autumn sun is shining and the kids are back at school getting into a busy term of learning. The washing machine is sloshing around with it's second load and the cat is asleep in the sunshine beside the window.

I have about a million and one jobs I need to do this morning, but I thought I'd stop in here quickly to share some new custom cushions I finished late last night. Late, because I was paying more attention to watching "Vera" on iView than hand sewing on the binding. Anyone else a fan of Vera Stanhope? Gosh she's a fabulously grouchy woman who always gets the culprit in the end.

These cushions were requested through Facebook from the sister of a school-mum friend. I'm pleased that my custom cushions are becoming known in the local area and I'm getting orders from people who I don't know personally, but who know my work.

I have a box of assorted 2.5" print squares which I keep especially for making these cushions. I added a few new prints to this random collection including some florals, fish, the cute seagull and bug prints which I bought when I was in Melbourne last January.

Some people want just a cushion, and some request the pocket at the back so that the child can put their pyjamas or a book in there.

We only have a few days until we leave on our trip so I'd best get back to getting the house organised and tidy so that it's all lovely when we come back home. There's something special about coming home after a few weeks away to a nice clean house.

  2. Another beautiful cushion (pillow or pillow cover to us in the US). I love them all! I'm assuming there's a zipper somewhere--how did you hide it so well?

    1. Thank you! No zipper in these ones. I just filled them and then sewed them closed within the binding.
