Creative Space with Ruby

My creative space has been productive this week - I finished these placemats (which I love).

They will add a touch of spring to our meal times.

I used a charm pack of Ruby (by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics) and the backing and binding were from my stash. I was undecided whether I’d use a grey with white spot for the binding, but I’m pleased that I decided to use the black with white spot. It pops!

I used single fold binding and decided to machine stitch it on – both front and back. At first it was a little tricky (as I normally stitch the binding onto the back, by hand, when I use a single fold binding), but it worked well and was much faster than sitting and sewing by hand. I have a basic Single Fold Binding tutorial HERE.

They're quilted with a loopy sort of free motion design. I hadn't done much free motion quilting lately, so I was a little out of practice, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

This range of fabric is absolutely yummy and I'm expecting a fabric delivery (including Ruby) later today - which will be added to my store. Make sure you pop on over to Fabric Buzz to use the 10% discount code (SPRING10) which is valid up until the end of the week.

What is happening in your creative space today? I’m linking up with Our Creative Spaces.
