Kindred Spirits - Braid Table Runner

This week, I finished this braid table runner which was an order for a friend. She contacted me asking if I'd make something to gift her aunt. After working out the details about colour and length, I got to work.

The main fabric is an older range by Bunnyhill Designs called Kindred Spirits for Moda. It's light, pretty and pastel - not my usual colour choice when I make things for myself, but I do love how these colours play alongside each other.

I used pieces from a F8 bundle, which are honestly perfect for making this runner pattern. But, if you don't have a F8 laying around in your precut stash, jelly rolls work well, layer cake squares or FQ's (though you don't necessarily want to cut those up for only a couple of strips).

This table runner is quite long and I used approximately 2.25 widths of fabric for the backing. (meaning the 14" x WOF strips of backing, sewn end to end). The backing fabric is very pretty and I've had it in my stash, waiting for the perfect project.

I hope aunty likes her new table runner and uses it regularly on her dining table.

  4. Like you, I don't lean toward these colors, but it will be a lovely gift for your friend's aunty. You're a good friend to make the time to put it together.
