Stitching Days

The second week of the winter school holidays flew by. With the days so short at this time of year, we try to get out and about in the mornings/early afternoon and then back home Where it's cosy.
The days may be getting longer, but the sun goes over the mountain behind our house at around 4:30pm which then suddenly gets very cold. When I say cold, I mean cold by our Aussie standards, not snow country type of cold :D

I haven't done a lot of sewing this week - a little bit of crochet and catching some shows with the kids. Every afternoon, we sit and watch old episodes of Bob Ross painting. It's certainly inspired Miss 12 to shop for painting supplies these school holidays. She's tried to recreate some 'happy little trees and mountains' and is really enjoying the process.

I managed to finish a embroidery design (top photo) which was offered in the Love & Hugs Group on Facebook. There are a number of designs available by some very generous Australian designers.

This stitch along started during lockdown and now the group have started offering Christmas designs to stitch. It's a really lovely group and definitely worth joining if you're into embroidery. Visit the group page here.

I used some lovely variegated embroidery floss which I received from a friend in a swap, a number of years ago. I think I'll work each block in a different colour of this Country Gardens floss otherwise it'll just sit in a box and not get used.

The block for the Christmas stitch along will be stitched in DMC 321 which is my favourite shade of red for red-work.

In other news, I bought some fabric yesterday. It's been a very long time since I last got some fabric and I couldn't resist the 10 FQ's for $10 deal at Spotlight.

    1. Hi Maria, yes this floss is so pretty. I've held on to it for such a long time, but figured it was about time I used it (rather than just hoarding it). I think Spotlight is the luck of the draw - mostly it's not great but then sometimes, you have a lucky day :)

  3. Your embroidery threads are so luscious! Loved seeing your stitcheries, too. Do you have any specific plans for your new fat quarters?

    1. I think it was a lucky day at Spotlight. It's usually quite sparse when it comes to FQ's at my local. Hope you have a great week :)
