Love Heart Dreaming {Free Pattern}

#MakeItMonday

Love Day, otherwise known as Valentine's Day is only a few short weeks away, so I thought I'd share my 'Love Heart Dreaming' free pillow pattern today.

This is an older pattern which was originally published in a magazine called Patchwork & Stitching. It measures 12" x 24".

It's a simple design with some very easy needle-turn applique and big stitch quilting around the hearts. But if you prefer raw edge machine applique, or hand sewing around it with a blanket stitch, that's definitely okay too.

The original pillow has ric-rac sewn in with the binding, but this is completely optional also. I remember I was going through a bit of a ric-rac phase at that time and added it to a lot of my projects.

I had this crazily scraptastic idea to make another one of these pillows by making a piece of fabric using scrap strips/pieces and cutting hearts out from that.

Fun, no? Crazy, yes?

You can download and print out the pattern right here (including the heart design) but you need to remember this was created a number of years ago (before I figured out how to digitize hand drawings).

If you make one a Love Heart Dreaming Pillow, I would definitely love to see it. Please tag me on Instagram or use the hashtag/s #LoveHeartDreaming #SameliasMum

  1. Sweet pillow. Thanks for sharing it. I LOVE the idea of piecing hearts from scraps. Great idea! With an accucutter, cutting is a breeze.

  2. I love the pattern; so simple, but it is your choice of fabrics which makes it so beautiful.
