Insane Pincushion

Insane Pincushion

I started working on a new hexagon project using 5” charm squares. You know those little corner triangle bits, which you trim off around the hexagon shape? I had them in my hand to throw away, when WHAM! A moment of complete madness hit me and I decided to get a scrap of batting and patch them over the batting with a zig-zag stitch.

It’s a whole new level of scraptastic madness, isn’t it? The pieces were teeny!

So once all of the pieces covered the batting, I trimmed it into a rectangle and made a new pincushion. And we all know that we can never have too many pincushions, right?

Do you have some teeny scraps? How about making a pincushion too? It’ll take 15 minutes tops and you can reach this whole new hoarder-ish level, like me. We’ll call it the “Insane Pincushion”. What do you think? Are you in?

  1. I love it! If any of my trimmings look remotely like a triangle I save them. So far I have nothing but a box full of triangle'ish scraps. I will gladly join you in your madness and make a pincushion. Maybe two - one for a friend if she'd like one (I know she follows your blog - let's see if she notices my comment!).

  7. I am sewing a lot of double diamonds lately, using, stitch and flip, and have tossed my triangles away. Time to get them out of the bin before garbage day. Waste not want not. The double diamonds are in Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt 2014.

  9. What a great idea! I definitely want to make one of those. The only thing is that I'm in the middle of making your bluebird park quilt, so it will have to wait... our maybe the quilt can wait. Thanks for sharing!
