Friday Night Sew In (FNSI) - 4 July 2014

Everyone headed out last night, so I had the house to myself. Flyboy went to work and the kids went to see some fireworks with their grandparents. I think that it being the 4th of July was just coincidental.

I switched on a film, White House Down with Channing Tatum (eye candy), and then started out stitching around my appliqué leaves, but quickly got bored. Well, not bored exactly. I had a new stitchery sitting beside me, grabbing my attention. Beckoning me to play.

I pressed my Parlan to the back and began working in this lovely stitchery by Rosalie Quinlan. Isn't it just the sweetest? I bought it at the Quilt Fair last weekend and it's been waiting for me.

I don't have my floss box here with me on holiday, so decided to stitch with what I had. Aurifil Mako 12. This set is by Bari J and the colours are just delicious. Yes, delicious!

The Aurifil cotton is beautiful and glossy which gives the stitching a lovely sheen in the light. I'm looking forward to working on it again later today. With the forecast for rain this afternoon, stitching while watching a film will be a perfect combination, don't you think?
