Contemporary Christmas Wreath

The build up to Christmas has begun. Here in Australia, that build up to Christmas begins when the football season comes to an end, the weather begins to warm up, daylight saving begins (this Saturday – YAY!), kids begin their last school term for the year, cicadas chirp and we dream about those long lazy weekend evenings where a sausage on a piece of white bread with tomato sauce constitutes dinner.

Christmas crafting is also beginning for the year. Have you noticed all of the Christmas images beginning to appear in your Pinterest feed?

The first Christmas issue of Handmade Magazine is in stores now. I contributed a contemporary wall hanging project for this issue, which I absolutely love and look forward to hanging in my home soon.

I stepped away from the traditional Christmas colours and worked with mint and violet to create this Christmas Wreath wall hanging. Of course if you love traditional, you can make it with traditional colours, add some extra stitching, quilting or embellishment.

  4. I love that you didn't do traditional with your colour palette - it's so fresh and is great for our summer Christmas. I really need to get a move on with the Christmas sewing (I probably should have started it in February!)

    1. Never too early to start Christmas sewing ... except maybe in January. In January, I'm absolutely "over" Christmas.
