Little Green Apples {Blog Hop}

Welcome to my stop on the Little Green Apples blog hop, hosted by Carol of the Just Let Me Quilt blog.

For this challenge we were invited to sew something related to apples, use apple fabric, or just use green fabric.

I decided to go with the apple print fabric option by making myself some new hot pad / pot holders. I used a fun apple print by Lecien (circa 2015-ish). I've had it in my stash for years and I'd never found a use for it - until now.

The lining fabric is a fabulous check turquoise which works with the little apple blossoms in the main print. I bought this print, along with a number of other colour check fabrics, from Spotlight a while ago too.

This hot pad pattern is a favourite of mine. I've made a few of them in the past, which you can see blogged HERE and also HERE. Link to the pattern is also included.

  5. Oh my goodness, I do love the fabrics you picked for your sweet pot holders. I have been on a bit of a pot holder kick here lately as well. They really are fun to make!

  6. The bright colorful fabrics and contrasting binding make me want to make make a few and then bake. Well, probably bake first then make. I read all the links that you posted, saved the pattern. I do have a question. What do you suggest for the batting? Insulbrite or several layers of batting.
    Thank you for the inspiration.

    1. I use a double layer of cotton batting in my pot holders. Insulbrite is excellent, but not easy to find where I live.

  21. Very cute, and practical. Nice that you found a good use for an old print. What cook can't use a new hot pad, when they can get disappointingly grungy in a short time? Nice job.
