FNwF May

It was a very busy day in the sewing room on Friday and I feel that I got a lot done, with only mild procrastination.

I found just the right backing in my stash for a quilt. I don't know when I bought the fabric but it's surely been on my shelf for a good 10 years. I guess it was just waiting for the perfect project.

After I basted the quilt, put my sewing table on to the Bernina and the free motion foot and went at it. I got most done until I got the message from my daughter that they were almost back at school after their school excursion to Sydney. I locked up the house and headed over to the school to pick them up (along with some hot chips for dinner). With hubby away on a trip til nex week (he's flying down over and around Antartica for the Aurora Australis), we like easy dinners around here.

After we had full bellies and the kids collapsed after a busy day excursioning, long bus trips I got back into the sewing room to finish the quilting.

I hadn't decided what fabric to bind this quilt with, but after trimming the quilt, I saw that I had enough to make binding with it. Perfect.

This has been one of those quilts which just 'worked'. It's for a blog hop with the fat quarter shop later in the month, so I'll share the whole finished quilt then.

My evening finished off with the news that I won a fab giveaway on Instagram. Yay!

I joined Cheryll for Friday Night with Friends. Now I'll be popping in to see what everyone got up to last night too.

  8. Your stipple quilting looks beautiful, Anorina! You've quilted with really lovely spacing, and consistent stitches. And all in a day! How great is that? So apparently your widely-spaced pin-basting works well for you. I'm curious to know if you've every tried basting spray, either store-bought or homemade. I like to use the homemade type, but actually don't spray-baste as much as I once did. I always feel like I need to do the spraying outdoors, so for the inconvenience of it, I've been pin-basting indoors. Which IG giveaway did you win? Hope it was for fabric!
