Tiny Floral Braid Table Runner

Tiny Floral Braid Table Runner

#BraidTableRunner

Back at the start of the year, I joined the Color it Red blog hop. Remember those good old days before Covid swept the world and we were oblivious to what was to come in 2020.

For that hop, I created and shared my pattern for the Red Braid Table Runner. It was such fun to go through my scrap basket and find the right red fabrics to use. Plus, it was a surprisingly quick finish - even with extra added hand quilting.

The pattern has been shared a number of times online and that post has had almost 50,000 hits. I wonder how many wonderful variations of my braid table runner have been made?

After recently seeing it re-created by an Art Gallery Fabrics designer in their new fabric line, I thought it would be fun to revisit the pattern and make it too. Well, maybe make a few so I can gift them over the holiday period to friends and family.

Introducing my Tiny Floral Braid Table Runner. It's made up of all of the different floral prints in Japanese cotton lawn that I had on my shelf. Lawn is just so lovely and delicate to work with and finishes up quite beautifully. I teemed the floral prints with some plain seeded cotton homespun fabric which works well and doesn't detract from the pretty colours which surround it.

Rather than batting, I layered it with fusible pellon and a cotton backing, which worked well in keeping it all together for quilting in the ditch.

If you'd like to create your own Braid Table Runner, my free pattern is right here.

How's your Christmas sewing going? Have you created lots of things for your home and to gift family and friends this year? I must admit that I'm a little slower this year than most, but I hope to make up for it over the coming weeks.

    1. Hi Laura, thanks for stopping by. It's funny how the world works, isn't it? You're heading into winter and it's getting hot here. I'm pleased that you liked the runner idea and want to use up some of your scraps to make one too. Happy Sewing :)

  4. Anorina, this table runner is a beauty. Thank you for sharing your tutorial.
I hope your summer is not too hot. Here, I believe our summer was cooler than usual.
This is a great project for me to start. I have way too many scraps

  5. How wonderful for you to know that so many people like your table runner design! It would certainly be interesting to know who's made one. Good for you to have a jump on your gift-making. I seldom make Christmas gifts anymore. After many years of receiving homemade items - jammies, wall hangings, tote bags, zip pouches, hot pads, jewelry cases, toothbrush cases, etc - my family is full-up of my stuff... and usually don't hesitate to say so! Enjoy and appreciate that you know people who want your makes! :-)
