OMG! Another Midnight at the Oasis Quilt Update.

Guess what!?!!? I have another Midnight at the Oasis quilt update.

In about a day and a bit, I've pieced and attached the scrappy checkerboard border along with the skinny border.

Hubby bought me some wireless headphones last Christmas. These are so very handy in the sewing room. I can move around without worrying about the cord or carrying the phone around with me as I move between the machine, cutting board and pressing boards. If you don't have some, add them to your Christmas wish-list, even if only to use in the sewing room.

I get my audiobooks through the Borrow Box app on my phone. I can borrow e-books or audiobooks (free of charge) through my local library. So mid this week, I sat and sewed for quite a few hours, listening to the story I had borrowed. The book is called Kiss Me, Kill Me by J.S. Carol. It's a psychological thriller that has so far taken a few unexpected twists that have kept me intrigued.

I'm not sure if it was the sewing that made me sit and listen to the audiobook or if it was the storyline on the audiobook that made me sit and sew for so long.

At this rate, I'll be finished by the end of the month. Well, maybe not. The next pieced border looks like it might take a while to put together.

I'm linking up with Elm Street Quilts for my OMG August Finish. Not just one pieced border, but two finished pieced borders. I'm very pleased with this months effort.

Also playing along with Cynthia's Oh Scrap, Em's ScrapbagWendy's Peacock Party and Alycia's Finished or Not Finished Friday

    1. Thank you so much. Honestly, I’m just kinda throwing a bit of everything into this quilt - as long as the scrap is big enough to use.
I’m certainly having a lot of fun with this quilt.

  3. Wow.... one day. I need to get into my own zone. It sounds heavenly.... but what about all of the antics that I cannot hear happening, like cats opening doors and letting thieves into the house, or hubby falling down the stairs... or maybe he just can't find his glasses.
    :::nevermind:::
I love this quilt. It is a treasure, you know that. An absolute treasure.
This is what we are doing. making treasures. Well done Anorina. Now, when you look at this quilt, will you have memories of the thriller book. I kind of get that imprint in my head just listening to tv while sewing. but not usually. Usually the imprint in my mind is my present state of being.
I want to make this quilt now.

    1. Hahahahaha - don't worry about the antics through the house. If you find a sewing space, the antics will certainly come to find you. I can be in the kitchen or around the house and nobody wants or needs anything, but the moment I sit comfortably on my chair to sew, everybody comes to ask questions or show me things.

Yes I completely understand what you mean about the book being a memory with this quilt. You should definitely make this quilt. It really is a lot of fun and I'm learning patience, if nothing else ;-)

      Happy Stitching xx

    1. Thank you. So far, so good, but yes, that next border is going to take some time.
I must admit that my mind has started wandering and I’m contemplating working on something else for a little while.

    1. Thanks Sheryl. Yes it's taken a lot of hours so far, but it's been quite fun too and I'm enjoying using fabrics from my scrap basket (though it never seems to go down).

      Happy sewing my friend xx

    1. The teeny pieces are quite fiddly - luckily I'm a 'finished it better than perfect' sort of person ;-)

Do you have a favourite genre?

  7. I am really loving your quilt! I listen to pod casts on my tablet when in the sewing room. I also find that I get a lot done this way.

  11. Well done! I've had the pattern for 2 years, and not made a start yet. I saw Jen Kingwell's original quilt in real life, and took lots of photos, but I still haven't started my own version yet. Maybe one day. Thank you for linking up to the Peacock Party.

    1. I think I saw this quilt at the Melbourne quilt fair a few years ago and excitedly bought the pattern. I started it, put it away and found it again recently when I did a great big sewing room tidy-up. It's funny the things you re-discover when cleaning and decluttering :)

    1. Thank you. I was pleased to finish my goal. At this rate, I might have my quilt finished by Christmas (but I probably shouldn't get toooooo ahead of myself).
I've not heard of Louise Penny, but I'll note it down to have a look if I can find any of her books through my library. Thanks for the tip :)

  13. I love my wireless ear buds for exactly the same purpose! If you can find them, you’ll love Louise Penny’s books. Make sure to start with book 1!
