Winter Garden

I'm going to start by admitting that I really don't know much about gardening.

Sure, I love a pretty rose or a handful of freshly picked herbs as much as the next person, and the fact that they seem to be thriving is more luck, than know-how.

We decided to go a step further. With some left over wood (from a decking project), Flyboy built a lovely (HUGE) raised planter box. It's approximately 1m x 3.5m and around 80cm high.

A trip to the garden centre a couple of weeks ago, some light rain and a lot of unseasonable sunshine and we now have a lot of different things growing.

Cabbages, onions, broccolini, carrots and peas. We even have lettuce growing, which isn't bad considering it's the middle of winter.

Sage, coriander, parsley, basil, rosemary, thyme, mint and chives ... all growing in various pots and planters around the garden.

We had a few potatoes which had started to seed in the bottom of the box in the pantry. We cut them in half and planted them along the back fence. And wouldn't you know it, they're growing too.

Honestly, if we can grow things in our garden, anyone can. Or maybe, it's just beginners luck...

Do you have a veggie garden?

What is growing at your place right now?

Any tips you care to share on how to keep this beginners kuck going?
