DIY Bed Headboard

Shopping for the new house has been fun, exhausting, inspiring and yet difficult. I know what I like, but have a hard time finding it. Or when I do find what I like, I have a hard time justifying the expense.

Like bed headboards.

I’ve been to the local bedroom and furniture stores and really, for what they are, the prices are just absurd. There was one bed head which I really liked at Domayne. It was about $1800. If we had just won the lottery, okay, but since we’re not able to go out to the back garden and harvest money from our money tree, this is just a little too much. For a bed head.

Hubby suggested, why not make one? I’m not sure how serious he was when he made the suggestion, but I’m going to run with it… and I am using Pinterest, Blogs and YouTube as my inspiration… and as my instruction manual.

I have a staple gun and I’m not afraid to use it!!!

I do love this idea of hanging a quilt in place of a headboard. Isn’t it just fabulously quilty for a quilter?

This one is fun. The gorgeous, fresh colours caught my eye.

I love this idea. Imagine how it would look made up with lots of gorgeous Amy Butler fabrics.

Which is your favourite?

Did you make your own bedhead?

Or do you know anyone who has?

I’d love to hear about your experiences, if you’ve made your own bed head… or any other furniture for your home.

we finally got a REAL bed a few weeks ago with head and foot board, but I did try to pin a quilt on the wall once, then it fell down and we were looking for the pins desperately!! so the quilt never went up again

We need a new bedhead stat - moving the bed today . I think we have a pallet lying around ;).
Seriously, a hard decision. Our 4 poster bed won't fit , too high.

I do like the one with the quilt hanging above. But, I also like the gray quilted grid headboard too. Right now, I have a king size sleigh style headboard. But, next time I move, I will downsize, and use something like the gray quilted headboard. Good luck!

What great ideas! Look forward to what you come up with. I'm sure the house building feels like it's taking a long time but at least it gives you lots of time to look at, plan and make all the bits and pieces for your home :)

I am on the same mission, so I will be following your progress on this one.

My favourites are the hanging quilt (you could change your head board regularly!) and the recycled doors/windows. I've not made my own bed head, but it was very inspiring seeing all the different ideas. Can't wait to see what you come up with Anorina!

My mom and I made me a tufted headboard when I went to college and it was super easy and lasted until I decided to redo my decor after I graduated. Super easy, cheap, and it looked very professional.

In the same boat. Would love to see what you decide on. I do love those doors but I think I want a soft head board for a change
