Spring Cleaning Scrap Challenge

Being a procrastinator who thinks that she can fit in way more into her day, than she actually can… I made another mini quilt on the weekend.

This mini was based on the EQ7 challenge to use up some scraps. I really wanted to cut into some pretty new fabrics but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge, I controlled myself and used only scraps. I even used batting scraps by cutting straight edges, butting them together and then zig zag stitching the pieces together.

It was fun to try to work out which pieces would be big enough to fit into the mini, to make up a balanced sort of design. I do like those Lori Holt navy blue pops in the centres.

I quilted it in my new favourite quilting style – wavy lines. It’s a decorative stitch on my Bernina which I then widen and lengthen. I want to quilt all of my quilts like this from now on!

If you have EQ7 and would like to enter, there is still time. It closes at the end of the month. Just visit the Electric Quilt blog and follow the details on how to enter.

It’s really quite simple (and quite fun).

Okay, a lot of fun.
