Long Weekend Sewing

A long weekend is perfect for a sewing marathon. I joined my online friends on Friday night and stitched this little project while watching Zodiac with Jake Gyllenhall and Robert Downey Jr. Strange film which dragged on and on.

If anyone is interested, the pattern is by Mollie of Wild Olive. I turned mine into a little mini which I've finished binding and is hanging on my wall.

I've also been working on a large quilt which will eventually live on my little lady's bed.

She enjoyed helping lay out the blocks and make sure no centre panels were too close to each other.

I managed to sew all of the blocks together today, and quilt it. The stitch regulator on the sewing machine which is attached to my quilt frame, was playing up. For a while there, I thought it wouldn't get finished but FlyBoy played around with it and got it working. Yay for a handy husband.

Tonight I have a few episodes of Season 3 of Damages to watch and a big quilt to bind.

I think black and white stripe fabric makes the best binding, EVER! Do you have a favourite binding fabric?

Binding is my absolute favourite part of the process. What's yours?

  1. Love the embroidery and it's a great message to be reminded of while working. Loving your little lady's quilt - she's got great fabric taste. What machine do you use on your frame. I have a happy jack frame waiting to be set up and I can't work out what machine to put on it... was thinking a Janome 1600P...

    1. Yes, that's the machine I have too. It's strong and sturdy and does the job. One day, I'd love a long arm machine with lots of throat space. I may need to win lotto first though :)

  2. love your little mini Anorina and love Amelia's new quilt and my fabric fabric for binding is stripes, hope you have a lovely day my friend.xx

  3. Your mini is lovely and the quilt turned out beautifully. Love your binding.
