Like many quilters, I love pre-cuts. Beautifully laser cut strips or squares of fabric of the latest ranges by talented designers… what’s not to love?

25 Ways to Sew Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes & Charm Packs is the new book by Brioni Greenberg of the blog Flossy Blossy.

Create stunning modern quilts and quilted projects from jelly rolls, layer cakes and other pre-cuts fabric bundles. Features 25 small and large projects, each made from pre-cut bundles of fabric, including full sized bed quilts, bags and table runners. Be inspired by fabulous contemporary quilt designs using the most exciting fabric lines, and use up the leftovers to make quick and easy small quilted projects.

Brioni has created the most wonderful book filled with fun designs and modern patterns... Fun new ways to use up those beloved pre-cut fabrics, rather than just letting them sit on a shelf… looking pretty.

Giants Causeway

This book contains fresh and modern projects. Quilts, bags and smaller projects like a notebook cover, sewing machine cover and place mats.

Starburst Tote Bag

Personally, I love so many projects in this book and am inspired to unwrap my favourite (hoarded) jelly roll (a JR of Terrain by Kate Spain) and use it in a project. Sure it’s pretty, sitting on my stash shelf, but no doubt it will be prettier actually incorporated into a quilt.

This quilt is called Summer Petals and I absolutely love it. Best of all, this pattern is designed for Jelly Rolls.

Summer Petals

I’ve been thinking about my project for the summer – one which I can work on while out enjoying the weather and the school holidays.

Summer Petals Instructions

I think that getting the little petals all cut and glued to the blocks, ready to applique, will make this perfect to keep in my hand bag and work on the go.

And then I can work on the Shuriken quilt which also caught my eye. The bold colours and solid fabrics are absolutely eye catching, don’t you think? It is also designed with a jelly roll and a couple of charm packs (or yardage cut into charms).

There are so many quilt books on the market right now, but if you like making fun quilts and projects with pre-cut fabrics, you really should consider 25 Ways to Sew Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes & Charm Packs.
