Published Projects

There’s been a lot of secret squirrel business going on around these parts. I’ve been sewing for publications and for numerous swaps. Luckily for me, I have the 52 Week Scrap Challenge, otherwise I’d have nothing to share with you on a regular basis. I’ve just finished the next scrap project and am busting to show you… but I’ll wait until Monday… well try to wait til then.

I currently have projects in 2 different Aussie magazines. Yay!

Firstly, I have the Bohemian Star Quilt project, in the new issue of Down Under Quilts. This is my first project for Down Under Quilts (DUQ) am I’m super excited. Issue 160 of DUQ is now on sale at your local newsagency.

Bohemian Star Quilt - DUQ October 2013

Bohemian Star Quilt measures 90” square and is currently on the spare bed in my guest room. My nephew has stayed over the past few nights, so he’s been the lucky one to sleep under it first.

Bohemian Star 2

It’s quilted in loops and hearts, which was fun to do. I started the quilting quite slowly, but by the end was whizzing through, quilting hearts and loops in all directions.

Bohemian Star 1

My second project is called Aussie Christmas and you can find it in Handmade : Christmas Special – Volume 31, No 10. For this project, I’ve used some of my favourite Aussie Christmas fabrics to make a fun Dresden table runner.

Aussie Christmas - Handmade

The Christmas Koala fabrics are available at Spotlight. I bought it in yardage last year, but this year saw that they’re stocking it in FQ’s (or Flat Fats or is it Fat Flats?).

I love making Dresden Plates and use them in my projects regularly.

Aussie Christmas

I hand quilted this runner using Aurifil Mako NE 12 in red (colour 2250). Aurifil is such a lovely cotton to work with and I really must get a few more colours to have on hand, when hand quilting.

  4. I saw the Aussie Christmas runner and decided to make one for an American penfriend. It was very exciting to see you had designed it.

  5. Fantastic! They are both amazing. What is the fabric charms you've used in the star quilt? Congratulations :)

  6. I have been published for the first time this week... In Down Under Textiles. It is an article about an exhibition a textiles group I am part of had. Amazing though - my work made the cover (small picture bottom right). It is so exciting and I didn't even know it was going to be there so I can't imagine the suspense and expectation when you write tutorials and wait for them to be published. Congratulations. I love the Star quilt.

  7. I would love to get my hands on the Bohemian star quilt pattern. Where can I get it?
