Notepad Cover {Tutorial}

Today, I am sharing this quick and very easy little notepad cover tutorial.

Notepad Cover Tutorial - Front

I’ve been making these notepad covers, to sell in the craft stall at the school fair and thought I’d share my quick little tutorial.

They’re super super easy to make. And quick. Very very quick to make.

I have used some left over layer cake squares (10” squares). 2 layer cake squares will yield 2 notepad covers.

Requirements:

Outer fabric = 10” x 4”

Lining fabric = 10” x 4”

2 x Pockets = 2” x 4”

Pocket Fabric:

Fold over the top of each pocket (approx 1/4”) - press then sew.

Place these pockets over either end of the lining fabric, right side up (as per the image below).

Notepad Cover Tutorial 3

Place the outer fabric over the top with right sides together.

Pin in place, keeping the pockets aligned at either end.

Notepad Cover Tutorial 4

Using a 1/4” seam, sew all around, leaving a gap for turning.

Clip the corners.

I found it easier to turn, if I started on one of the long sides and ended on that same long side.

Turn it out and poke out the corner with a knitting needle or a sharp pencil.

Press then top stitch. Either all the way around or just along both long sides. Up to your own individual preference.

Insert your notepad and its finished – all in under 30 minutes.

And if you’re going to make a few for a craft stall, as quick Christmas gifts, teacher gifts or last minute gifts, you can have a little production line going and make lots in about an hour…

As always, if you make something using one of my tutorials, I'd love it if you posted your pictures in the Samelia's Mum Flickr Group.

Happy Sewing!

  6. Just found your great little tute! Make sure those making these measure you notebook first. I cut my fabric 3 1/2" x 11 1/2" and it fit perfect. The first one I cut per your directions and it was too short.
