*BREAKING NEWS* It needs fixing…

*** BREAKING NEWS ***

It's fixed!!! Yay!!! Thank you my Mr Handyman. Love you x

~~~~~~~~~
We’ve got a one bathroom house. One day I’d love to have a multiple bathroom house, but for now, we make do.
This means, our toilet is the only one to service our family of 4.
It’s been making strange noises lately.
This cistern is taking a long time to fill back up and doesn’t flush like it used to.
It’s needs looking at – and fixing.
I’ve mentioned it to the Mr Handyman (AKA my husband).
He’s said “I’ll need to have a look at it”.
The next day, I’ve mentioned it again to Mr Handyman… who responded with “Yes, I’ll need to have a look at it – it’s probably the flushing mechanism that’s broken”.
Great. We know what the problem is… but so far nothing has happened to remedy this situation.
The next day…
Me: “The toilet is still making funny noises”
Mr Handyman: “Yes that’s right. It needs fixing”
I know Mr Handyman reads my blog (well he says he does).
Obviously, my nagging (after nearly a week) hasn’t worked.
So maybe if I blog about it, he’ll fix it. Right?
Do you have a Mr Handyman?
And most importantly, does it take long to get things fixed?
  1. Ha! My Mr. not-so-Handyman always says "We need to get that fixed." That's as far as he goes. THen it's my problem.
  2. HAHAHA! This kills me. We moved into our house in Jan and one of our toilets (upstairs) doesn't work. He hasn't been able to fix it. This weekend our guests flooded it because it doesn't work. He says, "guess I better get someone in to look at it". Then the next day he changes to, "let me take a look at it again". Sigh. I wish he read my blog, I would so do this too! Good luck!
  4. Ha ha, all I can say is I am VERY grateful for my adult step son :D! He certainly doesn't inherit his handyman skills from his father or he wouldn't have any.
    Cheers,
  5. My Mr Handyman has been renovating a basement for over 3 years. I will say no more.. ... ha ha
    Good luck with that toilet - if all else fails, the hardware store sells the flushing mechanism and it is really easy to replace yourself.
  6. Ah Yeh!!! don't we all have a handy man like that. Call the plumber.
    I also only have one loo and it is a pain especially when we have visitors so it CAN'T be broken.
  7. Just put a sign on the toilet that says "Broken" and offer him a can to "go" in for his morning "think" and see what happens!
  8. DH Handyman decided he would build a built-in-wardrobe himself. Things were going well until a mate arrived to "help" - with beers in hand. That was followed by a lunch break (wine) and general relax and chat. 10 years later, my wardrobe was finished!
  9. LOL! I know what you mean ... well, my Mr Handyman is my father (no hubby/bf) ... and, well, lets just say that even though we've been living in our house ... that he built ... we still have walls that haven't been painted the first time ... let alone the ones that need to be repainted ... a whole upstairs 'office' area that hasn't been used in many years due to the damage made by possums ... that have been supposed to be gotten rid of for at least 10 years ... and the table he was going to make Mum when they first got married ... well, let's just say he's smelt the wood!
    Our family has gone down from a two-toilet home to a one-toilet home in the last 6mths too ... the main toilet has been backing up horribly ... water filling up to top and then slowly back down ... we got in a plumber ... but we need another one (one who knows his job!) ... and probably need to replace some of the pipes under the garden outside the toilet ... could very well be tree roots in there messing things up!!
    Hoping yours gets fixed before it really needs to be!!!
  10. Ah yes, the handy man! My hubby is NOT one of those. SO my life is easy, if I notice it broken I either fix it myself (my Dad was the ultimate Mr. Fix-it so I learned a lot from him!) OR I just call whoever is required and I get it done. So much easier than Handy Hubby! Good Luck!
  11. Oh this made me laugh! I am married to the ultimate handyman that can fix anything but...it's always LATER. My girlfriends and I use to complain all the time until one of them told us how SHE fixed her husband's lack of motivation. She started out hinting, then asking and when it still didn't get done she told him she was calling the plumber. Since he was cheaper than he was lazy it got done right away! I've used it several times since then and it always works!
  12. Yep that happens here! My hubby is a carpenter/concreter/brick layer so can pretty much do everything....we have been renovating for years, tiles are stacked in my lounge waiting for over a year!
  13. LOL I'm the handyman around here and hubby loves the kitchen so it doesn't take long to fix things as I do them myself LOL
  14. :D we've had occasions like that. Most recently was the cabling to extend our wireless modems to the back half of our house. That took a little over 12 months to get done.
    Thankfully we rent and have two toilets, so plumbing issues go to our landlord.
  17. My husband is the same - yes he can fix anything but sometimes he drives me nuts leaving it forever ...print out a list of plumbers from yellow pages online and ask him to chose someone !
  18. BAhahahahaha, go in there one night when he is sitting on it with a sledge hammer and a screw driver and say that since he is so busy, that you will fix it, bahahahahaha
    It is only because I can relate on so many levels
  19. Ah yes, WM is definitely a handy man. Sometimes things get done instantly and other times one has to be very, very patient!
