Geranium Delight Quilt

Circa July 2021, I started an EPP project. At that time, I was an ambassador for Crafters Edge (Crossover II cutting machine) and had received some very cool dies to try out. They cut both paper and fabric for EPP which I really liked. What a great idea!

I decided to use some of my 1930's inspired prints and the Geranium Delight pattern - a combination of hexagons and jewel shapes.

5 years later, I've finishd this quilt. I don't really love 1930's print fabrics like I used to. This quilt had sat in a drawer for the past few years, waiting for some love and attention. It just needed those little trios of hexagons appliqued down. They were already glued in place - just needed to sit and take 10 minutes to sew them down. Gosh!

I'm very happy to say that it's now finished. I made a backing and basted it one evening and then the next afternoon, I quilted it and machine bound it. I even made a label - which is attached.

The fabric which I chose for my backing was already in my stash. It's a little wider than standard quilting fabric (150cm wide vs the standard 110cm wide) so I added a panel using the same green solid as the front of the quilt with a small piece of yellow 1930's print.

The green within the backing print worked so beautifully with the green background fabric. They were pradctically made for eachother. I bound the quilt with the same green fabric.

I used the alphabet on my old Bernina to create a label. It's not the greatest font in the world, but it's fairly straight and is now done.

I wonder what other long term projects I'll find in my drawers or cupboard that I can get finished. Even though I don't love this quilt, I'm very glad that it's now finished.
