First Project of the Year

The year has only just begun, but I already have a finish under my belt.  Go Me!

I went over to visit a friend today who has recently had her kitchen renovated. It's a beautiful space with a beautiful combination of wood, stone and Hampton blue cabinetry. I wanted to gift something as I hadn't seen her for a while. I decided to make a set of quilted pocket pot holders (like these ones I made over Christmas).

I love this pattern found on Bombshell Bling. We both have a Portuguese background so I used this fun print by Sarah Watts called "From Porto with Love".  The blue/white check fabric is a print from Spotlight and works really nicely with the blues in the C & S fabric.

I'm going to play along with Project Quilting (Season 14) this year, and will count my first project of the year as my finish for the challenge - theme is 'One'. Seeing as I made these on One January, that's my tie-in  :)

  5. What a lovely gift for your friend. I'm not familiar with "Hampton blue," but I'm guessing its the blue color in the spot print. Such a worthwhile, useable gift. I love that sort! And it's great that you're joining in on this Project Quilting. I read about it on Persimon Dreams blog, and it looks a bit too much for me. Being in two quilt guilds and taking on their myriad of activities, including makes for charities, I'm feeling overwhelmed with 2023 already! I'll watch you play, and hope you win something.
