Beachy Vibes and Berry Pie

Rain, rain, rain... you'd be mistaken in thinking that Australia is a hot and dry country with the amount of rain we've had recently. With a forecast of over 100mm of rain today and again tomorrow, I'm planning on spending my weekend cocooned in my home, sewing, crocheting, baking and generally enjoying being indoors with nowhere in particular that I need to go.

While the rain poured down yesterday afternoon and dinner was slowly cooking in the oven, I sat in my sewing room joining some hexies. After preparing so many of them a couple of days ago, I was really looking forward to playing with them.

Once it got dark, I swapped out the EPP hexagons for my crochet project. I'm working on a version of the Meadow blanket CAL (hosted by Attic24) but using the yarn that I already had at home. My friend Lianne suggested I call my blanket Berry Pie and I think I'm going to go with that. Mmmmmmm.... pie.....

I went out the back during a break in the weather this morning, to take a couple of photos of my blanket progress. I could hear a lot of buzzing in the lower veggie patch so had a quick little look and saw lots of bees enjoying the pumpkin flowers.

Our pumpkin season has finished here and we've harvested about a dozen, but with all of this rain and spots of sunshine, it seems the pumpkin vine has decided to bloom once again.

And now for an important weekend question:

What is your favourite pie flavour?

I love your hexie project; such pretty fabrics. Hmm I do love pie . I think I will go with strawberry with a graham cracker crust and whipped cream topping. Yum yum. Have a great weekend.

Those hexies are coming together nicely and your crocheted blanket is very pretty too.
Yes I see in the news you’re having lots of rain but here in Dongara we’ve had days of over 40 deg.... that’s Australia 🇦🇺 ah !!

I love every pie, except "minced meat" I think that is the one with some green things in there, and some very horrible flavors. I bought one once and ugh, that does not taste like something worth eating. yikes.
I love every other kind of pie.
Your hexies and your crochet is beautiful.
What will you do with your 10 pumpkins? have you prepared them for meals or freeze portions? I love pumpkin!!

Your hexagon project is beautiful. I am currently looking for a new EPP project, my mom showed me a quilt out of a vintage 1985 Quiltmaker magazine that might be my next on the go project. So fun to look at old patterns with new ideas. Templates easily become EPP conversions. I look forward each year for my Fresh Peach glace pie on a shortbread crust.

Lovely work as always! Very hard to choose just one favourite pie but I do love a lemon meringue pie. If you'd like to send some rain I'll happily forward our hot, dry Perth weather!

Hi Anorina, I just love your hexies....but then I'm crazy about them :-) Since the pandemic started we've been buying pie way too often. My favourite is rhubarb strawberry. Spring is coming and I'm looking forward to harvesting the only thing edible in my garden...rhubarb! Take care and I hope that the sun comes out soon.

We have gale force winds here. Some rain, but not much. Love your crocheted blanket. I am tempted to do this one as I have made a few of hers and have plenty of left over yarns. Hexies look rather yummy.

From north of all the storms... very pretty hexie colour blend you have going there. As for pies, why are you making us choose? Cherry; lemon meringue; pear, almond & chocolate; rhubarb & strawberry. blackberry & apple; apricot... Well, I could go on, but you get the idea.

I love a meat pie of course being an Aussie but I also love a chicken and veggie pie, if it’s a sweet pie it has to be blackberry and apple I made some a couple of weeks ago from our blackberries

Love the colours in your crochet blanket and my favourite pie is Cherry Pie, followed closely by Xmas mince pies.

I love the combo in this hexie selection. I am re-arranging my sewing room so that it is better organized for the coming northern summer and the heat it will bring. Hexies are on the planned handwork. Even in the rain, your view from your sewing room is inspiring as well. (Mine overlooks a car park.)
