Just stopping in quickly today to share my sewing from last nights FNSI. I joined a bunch of creative ladies in the Friday Night Sew In, hosted by Wendy over at Sugarlane Quilts.
I played with my 2.5" squares from my scrap tub and put together my first blocks for the pattern I'm planning on sharing next week. I'm so glad that I had a play with this block early because I found that the block was much bigger than I'd expected. If I made the amount of blocks I'd planned for the quilt, in this size, I'd have a huge 160" square quilt. Can you imagine wrangling that around a sewing machine to quilt?!?!?
Then I felt the need for a bit of hand sewing, so I sat down and made a few hexies while we watched television before bedtime.
We started watching a show on SBS on Demand called The Bridge based in the US/Mexico. I think it's a very similar storyline to the original Scandinavian The Bridge and the UK/French version called The Tunnel. If you like drama/policey/investigaty type shows, this might be something you may enjoy.
Okay, time to go and get ready for party number 2. We celebrated my birthday with a family lunch and later on this evening I'm having a few friends over. Busy, busy, busy :)

DeleteBelated Birthday greetings! I'm just imagining quilting a 160" quilt on any machine - whew! Glad you didn't get too far on that before you realised. The design looks intriguing. Cute scrappy hexies.
ReplyDeleteLOL it would have been hilarious and horrendous to quilt all at once.
DeleteHappy Birthday Again haha
ReplyDeleteI love your hexie flowers of course,

ReplyDeleteThank you so much. No, I've never written about how I sew my hexies together, though I know there are a lot of great tutorials and versions out there. I really like watching the Sue Daley YouTube videos on English Paper Piecing. Her work is stunning.

ReplyDeleteThank you and yes it was fun to catch up with friends. It felt as though there were about a hundred kids over too and they all ranged between 7-14 so had a great old time running about out in the backyard in the rain.
DeleteWhat beautiful bright scrappy blocks. Looks like a productive evening.
ReplyDeleteThank you Vicki. Yes it was nice to just sit and sew. Leftovers for dinner tonight so I'll have plenty of sewing time again. Yay!
