Where has the last month gone? A mid October Catch-Up

One moment it's mid September - then I blinked and it's already mid October. Seriously, is it must me or does it feel like time is speeding up?

We've just had two weeks of school holidays. I had grand plans of taking the kids on road trips and exploring some new places, but somehow, we've filled each day without actually going further than Sydney.

Super Cute tins found at Ikea
We've enjoyed sleep-ins and watching movies well into the bed-time hours. We've shopped for craft supplies and spent time being creative and crafty. We've gone on some lovely walks and enjoyed hot chips down by the lake. We spent time window shopping at Ikea. We had our first swim of the season which has been followed up by some super cold days and even a hail storm. We've done lots of relaxing and we've made some good memories.

I bought us some last minute tickets to see Chicago at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. The seats were right up in the back but they were right in the middle so we could see everything that was going on, and listen to the performers fabulous voices. Casey Donovan (winner of the second season of Australian Idol) got the biggest and loudest cheers. She's amazing.

This past month, I did a fair bit of sewing but can't show you just yet. I submitted the project to my magazine publisher and will let you know when it's out (later in the year).

I made a custom cushion for a baby boy called Lennon. I used a super cute baby boy print which I've had in my stash for a while. I really enjoy making these custom pillows. The hardest (and most time consuming) part is choosing which font to use for the 'name'. In this Lennon pillow, I used a font called 'Ranchers'.

Only a weekend to go and the kids will be back at school, husband will be back home after what seems like weeks away and life will return to normal.

Do you have a favourite font for appliqueing words to projects?

  2. Anorina, Time does fly. I am glad that you are enjoying yourselves and filling this fleeting time with good fun.
Here too. It seems like we are always running to the next thing, and then fitting in the usual tasks we have to do.
Those tins are really cute and I hope to see your finished work soon

    1. Yes, I think we seem to be so busy these days, trying to fit everything in that time just seems to disappear. The tins were super cute and they even had a gorgeous cake tin size one at Ikea... but I controlled myself and didn't buy them.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend :)

    1. Thanks Fiona. Yes I think we're trying to fit more and more into our days. I know for a fact that my childhood wasn't half as busy as my kids lives seem to be.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Go the Fords!!
