FNWF - June 2019

I spent my Friday Night With Friends working on my Dreamweaver Quilt.

I estimate that I've spent 250+ hours (at a minimum) working on this quilt so far. From the hand pieced centre to the needle turn applique leaves and all of the hand quilting, it really is a very slow process.

Unless you're up close and personal with this quilt like I am, it's really difficult to see the progress, so I thought I'd take a different approach in photography.

I lay the quilt on the back deck just as the sun was going down over the escarpment. This low sunshine gave the quilting such wonderful shadow. It really highlights the texture of the quilt, especially around the leaves.

Perhaps I need to start a new project this week so that I have something new to share ;-)

I joined Cheryl for FNwF this week. Stop on over to see what everyone is worked on this past few days.

The weather has turned quite chilly this past week. Last week we were in tropical Hawaii enjoying the beautiful warm weather (along with a lot of good food and cocktails). It was certainly a shock to the system to get home to the wintery conditions.

Best thing for cold winter evenings? Hearty meals to warm the insides.

While away on holiday, one this which I dearly missed was my thermomix. I use it just about every day when I'm at home. This week, I made roast pumpkin & pork risotto (with left over pumpkin and roast pork from the previous nights dinner) and gosh it was good.

Another night this week, I defrosted a pack of "mystery meat" from our deep freezer. I call it mystery meat because often, the pack will have the date written on it, but not what's inside. When I buy large packs of meat (or win at meat raffles down at the club), I often freeze parts of it.

This pack happened to be around 500g of beef chopped into pieces. Perfect! I used it to make Hungarian Goulash. It was very yummy and even my fussy eater enjoyed it.

This week, I'm going to try my hand at a curry or two. Let's see how that goes.

    1. Thanks Fiona. On the winter food vein, if you're at Aldi this week, they have beef cheeks on sale. The slow cooker is definitely coming out to play.

Only a quilter can appreciate the work that goes into a quilt - even a simple one- let alone a beauty like your quilt. Nice work Anorina xox
