Cake, Cards and BHG

We had such a lovely day at Better Homes and Gardens Live, in Sydney, today. I had never been before, so wasn't sure exactly what to expect other than seeing the crew from the show there.

It was way much more. Lots and lots and  lots of stands with all sorts of home related wares. From make and take projects by Ryobi, to garden and plants, new products on the market, pet care, DIY, crafts and food.

I dragged hubby and the kids along, and honestly there was something there for everyone.

The kids and I had a chocolate baking master class with 'Fast' Ed which was fun. I picked up a few pointers about cooking with chocolate, learned that spring form cake pans are evil and practised how to cut a cake into even layers.

Our cakes didn't turn out as "pretty" as Ed's, but once we packed on the decorations, you couldn't really tell how lopsided it actually was.

I visited the girls at the Brother stand and caught up with Retro Mummy for a bit while the kids made Christmas cards with cut outs from the Scan'N'Cut. Honestly, what a fun machine! I may just add one to my Christmas list.

We popped into Costco on the way home (which was fun and expensive) and then braved the crazy, stormy drive back home.

This evening, we sat down to watch Better Homes and Gardens, while eating cake we'd made there.
