Every Last Piece, the new book by Lynn Harris demonstrates numerous ways to maximize how you use fabric in quilts, including string pieced blocks, mini star blocks, applique, sawtooth borders and more.

Every Last Piece by Lynn Harris

In Every Last Piece, the sewist learns how to make the most of their stash with 12 striking quilt designs. Traditional designs are refreshed by giving them a scrappy look while other quilts offer minimalist charm when small scraps are used on broad backgrounds. The quilt gallery as well as the projects themselves will inspire you to design in ways you never imagined.
If you have a large scrap stash and looking to use it, then perhaps you need to add Every Last Piece to your craft book library. Lynn Harris shows us interesting and diverse, ways to incorporate scrap fabrics into quilt projects.

  2. Sounds like a great book! I have my scraps in boxes divided into hot, cool and neutral colours. And when I need to use them I do tend to tip out the box and pick through them - it can get very messy! Thanks

  3. Hi. This is awesome! I have been working on mini wonky stars from my three boxes of scraps! I just have one box of larger pieces; one box of squares and one of strings. I'd love to win this!!

  4. I keep using scraps but it seems to grow while I sleep. Is that possible? Maybe there are fabric elves in my house.

  5. I just cleaned my sewing room and considered myself organized by putting all the scraps together. I put everything in large storage bags so things don't get so dusty.

  6. The main bulk of my scrap stash is kept in an IKEA red bin that is currently full and overflowing. The idea of this book would be great to reduce my scraps which are also hiding in other IKEA storage boxes.

  7. Looks like the kind of book I need! I have 4 huge plastic bags of scraps and 1 fabric Ikea fabric box of slightly larger pieces that is full. Waaaay too many!

  11. So far I have it in a fabric basket I made but it is a growing project. ;)
But I love to use my scraps for lots of projects.

  12. I keep my scraps in a big basket and then press, trim to different sizes and stack them in plastic containers. Would love to figure out what to do with all of them! akronne17@gmail.com

  13. That looks like a great book! I try to contain my stash in shoebox size plastic containers, sorted by color, but most of it is a jumble as I choose fabrics for the quilts I make.

  14. My scraps are organized by color and stored in large plastic bins. Thank you for your kindness.

  15. My stash is growing as I add more and more project and stored (right now) in a large bin.

  16. My scraps are not organized but kept in a bin, I have heard of others who automatically cut into 1.5", 2.5" squares, but I'm afraid to commit!

  17. Enormous. ...my scraps pile, I mean. It is semi organized as I've been cutting strips and strings, etc. for a long while but the drawers are full and it's time for a scrap quilt (or 75!) Pbstrand@msn.com

  19. I have lots of scraps in plastic bins and they are a bit of a mess. I use them often, but still the amount of scraps just seems to grow. I love them though, and think the best quilts are scrappy ones.

  20. would love to win, have way to many scraps to use up, thanks

  21. Love that quilt in the photo. my scraps are in 3 - 10 x 15 boxes - organized by size.

  22. I have glass candy jars for my little pieces, I keep bigger pieces in drawers and bags and the bigger than 1/2 yard goes in to a huge bin, lol. I don't really have a specific room to dew in and no where to put everything I have. But I do have a bookshelf for any books or magazines I win. :) Thanks for the chance.

  23. I have a lot of scraps - some in bags, some cut into small squares and triangles, some into 5" squares, and 2 1/2" strips. The book looks like it would be a fun one to own. Thanks!

  24. I have been trying to reduce my 'impressive' scrap stash by reducing my buying and therefore dipping into the scraps for inspiration. I have a pantry style cupboard that houses all of my craft materials. I try to store on the shelf by colour.

  25. I'd like to win,"Every last Piece". I certainly could learn heaps from it still being a beginner quilter. I have a small stash that is contained in medium sized plastic containers which several are not organised in anyway, but I do have one container for all my blue and white fabrics. I have started to collect any of my scraps of left over fabrics. So that I can make my own fabric's which do love making and have made a couple of projects in that way. I so far have also kept any reasonable pieces of fabric for a rainy day theory. It might just fit into something else one day. So nothing goes to waste unless it can't be sewn on!!! Thanks for the opportunity Julie

  26. I store scraps by size, not color in plastic produce containers. It's easy to see the pieces and I can move scrap leftovers bin to bin, as I use them or cut them down even smaller. Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. My stash is pretty modest as I am quite new to sewing. This looks great for using up my scraps currently stored in plastic containers under the bed!!

  28. This looks like a fabulous book and by your review, it is! My fabric stash is large to me, but probably in comparison to others, may be moderate. I just wish I had more storage for it. If I put it in tubs, it won't be accessible. Right now, I have it in uncategorized piles in a two-door closet. Gorgeous photos of quilts in this book!

  29. My fabric stash is moderate in size. I keep the fabric for baby quilts separated and the rest of my stash is organized by color and stored in a closet (away from the light).

  30. I just started and my stash won't even fill half a shoe box. No need to organize it yet.

  31. My scrap stash organisation consists of folded/screwed up pieces of fabric shoved in a box or bag. I often forget what I have. It's not organised at all! :) it's slowly getting bigger though so I should organise it a bit better.

  32. My scrap stash is "medium: big because I take other people's leftovers too. I have them in clear bags according to color and the bags are then in a basket..the ones that fit that is.

  34. I make clothes for my daughter,so I have a lot of odd shape pieces. Right now I have 2 laundry baskets full. I've already made one quilt from them. I've started another scrap quilt that is paper pieced. I also use them for hexies. I'm trying to get rid of them, but I think they are multiplying.

  35. I like to pretend my scrap stash is small by having several piles in different places!

  36. I love all my scraps! I have them organized by color -- which are in baskets that are attached to the wall with Command hooks. Easy to use! I also have my scraps pre-cut into 5" squares, 2.5" squaares and 2.5" strips.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have my scraps stored in a couple of plastic containers with small drawers, each one a different color. Thanks for the chance to win!

  38. I don't have a lot of scrap because i'm new at quilting but i will have lotsin the near future

  39. I actually organized my scraps with the method/tutorial in Sunday Morning Quilts.. I made colorized fabric boxes to put the according fabrics into. It was a lot of fun. This book is on my wish list, it would be nice to win, on my birthday even!

  40. Any scrap that is foldable I put back onto my fabric shelf, sorted by color. Any scrap that is bigger than 2" square I put into an ice cream pail, to be turned into 2" squares. Any scrap larger than 1/2" I put into a box which I use to piece made-fabric 7.5" squares, each of one color, which I then use to make gifts. It's amazing what I have made with what I used to throw away! My favorite gift to make with these are baby quits, with wide white sashing between rainbow collored blocks. sarah@forrussia.org
