One Hour Basket

I may be late to the *One Hour Basket party, but after a day, I am addicted.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the One Hour Basket is a free pattern by @KelbySews (her IG handle) on Craftsy. It’s quick and easy to make with Kelly’s fantastic tutorial and step by step photographs.

I made the first one by following the measurements and instructions.

I used the cutest fabrics – both available from Modes 4U Fabrics. They have the CUTEST stuff!!!

The knitting sheep print is such fun and perfect for a knitter. The basket is reversible, so either fabric can be on the outside and the star of the show.

They’re quite large baskets, and really are perfect to store a knitting or crochet project.

I decided that I needed to make another basket. This time I decided to tweak it a little.

I started with some batting, linen and fabric scraps. I quilted the fabric pieces to the batting and cut the 2 rectangles to 8” x 12”. As the linen didn’t quite line up, I hid this with some red and white gingham bias binding. Rather than make the handles with coordinating fabric, I used some cotton tape which worked perfectly.

Personally, I prefer this smaller size basket. Even though it’s smaller, it can still hold over two dozen fat quarters. That’s what great about this pattern – you can adjust it to your own preferences.

BTW - I bought a whole roll of this cotton tape, so I have the perfect excuse to be making more and more and more baskets.
