Little Joys : a quilt

Little Joys is the sweet new line of fabric by Elea Lutz for Penny Rose Fabrics (Riley Blake Fabrics). Elea is the talented designer behind the Milk, Flower & Sugar range which was very popular earlier this year (and from what I’ve read, has had a second print).

Little Joys is a Christmas line with assorted prints in the main colours of red, green, pink and white. The designs are very cute and for me, resisting the urge to play with these fabrics was futile. Can you spot the bouncy little red deer? Cute!!

As the prints have a vintage sort of feel to them, I decided a vintage style block would be fun to work with. I’m sure this block probably has a name, but for me, it was a variation of the Farmers Daughter Block, which I found in the Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt book.

The blocks finish at 12.5” and after creating that initial block, I cut the rest of them and chain pieced. They came together quite quickly (as I watched “Janet King” on Netflix – I do love an Aussie drama).

Next up, I will be sewing on the sashing and some borders. I hope to quilt it this afternoon and be binding by this evening. A girl can hope, right?

Little Joys will be available in Australia through Millhouse Collections in June 2015. This full quilt pattern will be available later this year (closer to Christmas).

  1. Oh my this is going to be a fun little Christmas quilt! I love those fabrics! The block you chose is super cute... when I first saw it, I thought it looked like a ribbon and bow.
