A couple of weeks ago, I bought a lovely stitchery from Rosalie Quinlan at the Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair. It is one of her Polka Dot Dreams designs.
As I was on holiday, I thought a little stitchery would keep me busy in the evenings. Are you like me? Watching the telly with a needle and thread in hand?
The stitchery is all finished now and I love how it turned out.
I didn’t buy any thread at the show, so I used what I had available in my little travel sewing bag. A little set of beautiful Aurifil Mako 12 cotton. The set is called Splendour 1920 by Bari J and the colours are just beautiful.
I trimmed the stitchery block and added a wide border with a fun print by Sarah Fielke. This is from her Millefiori range for Spotlight Australia. I wrapped it around a stretched canvas frame and it’s now turned a boring white wall a little more special (and bright).
I used backstitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, stem stitch and french knots in this stitchery. I think I enjoyed the chain stitch best. Even though it was the slowest, the result of those teeny tiny chains is just lovely.

ReplyDeleteDon't know why I'm surprised because everything you do is beautiful, but this is truly gorgeous. I'm with you on having needle and thread available at all times. I'd have to say chain stitch is my favorite. My nemesis is the french knot, after over thirty years I still mess that one up. Thank you for sharing.
