Strip Savvy is the gorgeous new book by Kate Henderson. It contains 18 fun, vibrant projects focused on using 2 1/2” strips.
This book begins with a general section which has excellent diagrams on basic quilt making and piecing techniques. From choosing background fabrics/prints, to quick and special piecing techniques, this section covers all bases and is an excellent reference.
The projects are divided into Quilts with Borders and Borderless Quilts. When deciding if a quilt needs a border, Kate gives shares ideas on different types of striking borders which can be used along with instructions on how to go about measuring and creating these borders.
The quilts are all vibrant and beautifully photographed, which I think is very important when purchasing a quilt book. The instructional diagrams are in colour which aide the sewist when piecing their blocks or quilts.
Strip Savvy is a wonderful book for the 2 1/2” strip (jelly roll) enthusiast. We all have have jelly rolls on our shelves, which we just bring ourselves to unravel.
