Choc Orange Cheesecake with a Tim Tam Base {RECIPE}

Cheesecake is one of THE yummiest desserts, ever!

We love the chocolate/orange (or jaffa) flavour combination at our house so today I’m sharing this delicious cheesecake, which has fast become one of our favourites. Best of all, it doesn’t require gelatine or baking.

Choc Orange Cheesecake Tim Tam

Cheesecake Base:

1 packet of Arnotts Tim Tams (or similar)

1/2 packet of Marie biscuits (or similar)

50g-100g butter (depending on which type of biscuits used for the base)

Cheesecake Filling:

1 x 250g block of Philadelphia cream cheesse (room temperature)

1 600ml tub of thickened cream (though you only use about 3/4 of this tub

1/4 cup of castor sugar

1 orange

1/2 bar (small) of milk chocolate

Method:

Place the Tim Tams and Marie biscuits in the food processor and blitz to a chunky crumb (or until you have the consistency that you like in a base).

Melt the butter in the microwave and then pour it in the biscuit crumbs and give it another whir to mix it all in together.

Use a tart /quiche tin (with the removable base), or line the base of a spring-form cake tin with some baking paper and pour in the crumb mixture. Press it down and to the sides of the pan until it’s shaped and compacted. Place in the fridge to set for about 10-15 minutes.

Rinse out the food processor.

Cheesecake Base

Chop the cream cheese into 8 – 12 cubes (to make it easier to process) and pop it into the food processor with the sugar. Zest some of orange skin into the cream cheese and then squeeze out all of the orange juice.

Whiz it in the processor until it’s a smooth consistency. Place this mixture aside for the moment.

With your hand or bench mixer, whip the cream until it forms firm peaks.

Fold the cream into the cream cheese mixture – gently. You want the mixture to be “just” combined and not over worked.

Cheesecake Filling

Pour the filling over the biscuit base (which should be mainly set by this time).

Grate some milk chocolate over the top.

Refrigerate for at least 3 hours (though overnight is best).

Place on a plate or serving platter and listen to your family Ooooh and Aaaaah.

Serve and enjoy.

  1. Oh, this looks so yummy and I'd love to make it, if only we could get Tim Tams here in the US. I'd die for one. I love them so that I imagine they'd never last long enough to make this luscious dessert! I'll copy the recipe just in case!

    1. They are so yummy and I wonder why they're not sold internationally? I'm sure it would work just as well with other chocolate biscuits. Next time, I'm thinking of using mint chocolate coated biscuits for the base and a drop or 2 of peppermint in the filling, rather than orange. It could be super.
