Scrappy Trippy Pillow {Sewing}

Happy Saturday everyone. How has your week been?

It’s been such a busy week here. Hubby has been away from home on a work trip, and there seemed to be about a trillion places I needed to be. Crazy!

Oh and I had my first day of working in the new school canteen yesterday. I should have said volunteering, but it was hard work, so it was working. With all of this hot sticky weather, the kids seemed to all have a coin to come and spend on ice-blocks.

I haven’t had a lot of time to sew, so after I get a few things done, I’m going to spend my Saturday afternoon sewing.

Firstly, I have a finish to show you. It’s my Scrappy Trippy Pillow.

Scrappy Trippy Pillow Full

The Scrappy Trippy Pillow is made up with some of the leftover 2.5” strips of my Scrappy Trip Along quilt.

On one of our road trips to Melbourne (and when it was hubby’s turn to drive), I hand quilted along each seam line with some lovely silvery/grey Perle 8 cotton.

It’s a big pillow (cushion) and will be very comfy for the kids to lay on when drawing. Are your children like mine in that they like to lay on their bellies, colouring in or drawing their pages, on the floor?

This afternoon, I will work on this baby boy quilt.

It’s very bright, but babies like bright – don’t they?

I don’t have very much “boy” fabric in my stash, but managed for find enough airplane fabric to use. The airplane fabric was from a library bag which I made for Sam when he started school.

Speaking of library bags, I have another one to make for Milly. Better get moving if I want my Saturday sewing to start.

Are you sewing today?
What are you working on?

Feel free to share links to your blog posts or Flickr / IG images so we can all have a look at your Saturday Sewing.

  2. Love your pillow. I have had one of these on my mind for a few weeks now. A big patchwork floor cushion that Master 2 can lay on on his floor mat. What size insert did you use and how big is your cover? I was thinking of getting the big 24" insert.
