Kambrook SteamStation {Giveaway CLOSED}

GIVEAWAY CLOSED
Winner: Lara M

Other than our sewing machines, the item which we quilters use most frequently is an iron.

I have to admit that I’ve tried a few irons over the past couple of years, in my search for “the perfect quilting iron”. They seem to be too light, or too heavy, or the steam function doesn’t work as well as I would like.

The lovely people at Kambrook know that I love to quilt. I may have mentioned this to them when I caught up with them at the previous couple of Bloggers Brunches.

Well a couple of weeks ago, Kambrook sent me an email asking if I’d be interested in trying out the SteamStation Pro Steam System. I may have let out a “Whopping Woo Hoo” and then quickly responded to their email with “Yes, please!!”

Kambrook ProSteam Station

A week later, the Kambook SteamStation was in my hot little hands and I was raring to press some blocks and seams.

Kambook ProSteam Station 2

The Kambrook Steam Station is one word – BRILLIANT! Can I say I am in love with the continuous steam function. Not only is it great for quilts, but also for vertical steam ironing.

My previous irons were useless when it came to the steam function. They’d sputter and take ages to warm up to make enough steam and after a couple of spritzes, I’d have to wait for the steam again.

Using the Steam Station is super simple.

Just remove the water tank and fill it up to the line with regular tap water.

Turn the thermostat control to the desired temperature. Plug it in and turn on the power.

The power indicator light will illuminate.

When it reaches the correct temperature, the iron thermostat light will go out, then cycle on and off as it maintains the water temperature.

Kambrook Steam Station 2

I decided to have a little experiment.

You know when you buy quilting fabric and spread it out and you get that stubborn crease where the fabric has been folded on the bolt?

It’s really hard to press and even with pressing and dampening and spraying, it’s hard to remove completely.

Well I gave the Kambrook Steam Station that test.

Here is the before photo

And here is the after photo

Kambrook Steam Station Experiment 2

It still has a slight crease, but a very pleasing result, don’t you agree?

Here are some of the technical bits:

- 2400 watt steam station with non-stick soleplate for easy gliding over all fabric types.
- Steam control button with continuous steam lock mechanism – locks on for continuous stem ironing or simply press and hold to activate steam as required.
- Iron rest for placing hot iron during ironing and to store iron when not in use
- Removable easy fill 800 ml water tank with water level indicator
- Thermostat control for selection of fabric temperatures from MIN (Silk) to MAX (Linen).
- Variable Steam Control Dial
- Base with iron connection cord and power cord
- Removable anti-scale filter cartridge.
- Very competitively priced at RRP $99.95

  12. Ironing has been an extreme sport since 1997, started by Phil Shaw of England who decided to do his while rock climbing. . People now actually do it on cliffs, under frozen lakes, in canoes, parachuting, on express-ways, - even while bunji jumping.
There has even been a documentary made: "Extreme Ironing: Pressing for Victory"
This year Phil Shaw (known as "Steam")ran a half marathon in Hastings, UK, with an ironing board attached, pressing clothes on the way.
Extreme Ironing even has its own web site: http://extremeironing.com/index.php?POSTNUKESID=d8e8da8f5335db2a44be4bbe0e952749
