A Self Portrait

It is 'meet the teacher' time at many Australian schools.

Last night, Year one parents (me) had the fun task of meeting the teachers. My sons teacher broke her toe, just before the start of school, so unfortunately we haven't met her - yet. The kids have had a substitute teacher for the past 3 weeks and are meant to have her for the next 3. Must have been some break!

The other part of the night is going into our children's classrooms to see what they've been upto for the past 3 weeks.

I won't show you pictures of his writing or numbers. He's a 6 year old boy who thinks writing is "boring". It's no fun - for anyone involved.

He does love to draw though. Here is Sam's self portrait.

Look at those lips. And all of those love hearts up top. I know I'm biased, but I think its a great picture by my little man. I'm a proud mummy. Can't help myself.

Here's to a wonderful year of learning and growth!

  1. We had that yesterday afternoon...big discussions about what the new national curriculum means for our school and kids. My son is 6 too and in grade 1, we really like his teacher so hopefully it will be a great year!
