Lavender Sherbet Quilt + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the "Pieced to Perfection" blog hop. Island Batik Ambassadors were challenged to create a quilt project with a newly released spring collection fabric range and it had to be paper pieced - either foundation paper pieced or English paper pieced.

The fabric collection which I received is called English Lavender and it's absolutely beautiful. If you like the combination of various purples, lilacs and blues, you will absolutely love this range. I paired this collection with some coordinating Island Batik solids.

I made the Lavender Sherbet Quilt.
This quilt is designed by Ruth Eglinton, found in the book Kaffe Fassett's - Quilts en Provence

The Sherbet Quilt is a foundation paper pieced quilt. I chose to use the freezer paper method of paper piecing to complete my quilt. I traced out 8 of the templates to my freezer paper and was able to chain-piece my 86 main B blocks.

To put the quilt together, I laid out the rows on my sewing room floor to ensure I didn't have (many) blocks of the same fabric beside each other.

This was a very enjoyable quilt to make. The paper piecing was not overwhelming at all and everything came together nicely. The quilting was kept very simple - just straight lines beside seams.

The backing and binding are the same fabric. I trimmed down, folded and machine stitched down the binding for a quick finish.
