The Weekend Wrap

It's been a wild and wooly weekend around here with a lot of rain and flooding... again. Australia is generally thought of as a hot, dry country but so far this year, it's been the opposite.

These are the horse paddocks over our back fence. On a regular day, you can see mountains just behind those trees, but it's been very foggy too.

Since Friday, here in my backyard, we've had just under 500 mm of rain. I love the rain. I really do. But this is a bit much, even for me.

We have a big puddle along the back deck. The dogs really don't like being wet so it's been an adventure getting them out there.

I don't seem to have accomplished a whole lot on the sewing front this weekend.

I completed the latest installment of the Stitching Kindess SAL.

I also started a new project although I'm not sure where it's going, or whether I'll continue it. It's based on an image which I saw on Pinterest and really sparked my interest. Funnily enough, I've actually saved the picture twice and different times.

It's an aboriginal artwork and I've searched, but can't find the artist. I think it could possibly be by Adam Reid but I'm not 100% sure of this.

I'm using Island Batik fabrics and Aurifil 80wt cotton thread for the needle turn applique. I'm trying to stay with the image in mind and making my rectangles freeform (ie wonky).

ChookyBlue hosted a few zoom sessions over the weekend and I was able to join in for parts of them throughout. It was really lovely to meet and chat with other quilters from Australia and around the world.

I've just signed up for a couple of new blog hops. August is the See ya later, alligator hop and in September it's the Queen of Gadgets hop. These hops are always a lot of fun and I've been participating for a while now.

I've added the blog hop images below and linked up the blogs where you can go and find out more information and to sign up.
