Final Custom Cushions for 2021

It's been quiet on here lately as I've been busy making custom cushions for Christmas orders.

These are the last lot of cushions I made, and they're all ready to be collected and to go and live in their new homes.

Each cushion is 18" square which is my favourite size. The forms I used are quite full and sturdy so the cushions hold themselves up beautifully. Plus, they all have zips on the backs which I'm insanely proud of. I've finally mastered zippers on my cushions.

I mainly used fabrics from my stash except for a couple of licenced prints which I got from Spotlight. Primary aged boys can be tricky customers in regards to their likes/dislikes and what was available in my stash.

I think my favourite cushion in this lot is the one for Savanna. I love this font (though I can't remember what it's called as I used different fonts and sizes to make each cushion unique). I love the kitten print fabric which I've had for years but had never found the "right" project in which to use it. Little Savanna loves pink and blue so I used both colours in her cushion.

Anyways, these will be collected on Thursday and I can then go back to playing with fabrics and my machine for fun. Well, for a little while at least.

Some exciting things are happening around here in 2022 and I can't wait to share my news. Until then, I will tidy up and sort out the mess I've created in my sewing room over the past few weeks.

  1. What a fun parade of cushions! I haven't tried a zipper closure yet, but soon. It looks easy enough, I hope. Looking forward to hearing your news of 2022! Happy Holidays to you and your family!

  2. Your pillows are very impressive! I'm not sure I'd have the dedication to make so many, even as a small business, but they're all wonderful. Your raw edged appliqué is beautifully done, and it looks like you had a chance for a good play with your sewing machine's alphabet embroidery. Wishing you a blessed Christmas spent with those you love.

  5. They are all so lovely and I am sure they shall be well used and loved. What inserts do you use? I find the inserts from the 2 major sewing and hobby outlets to be very flimsy.
