Liberty Kantha Table Runner (FINISH) : FNwF April

Happy Saturday Friends! We've had a lovely few cooler days with rain. Oh rain, how I love you. Everything is looking quite green and lush. This weekend, the sun is out and we have a forecast of 28C for both days, so rather than see it as humid and sweaty weather, I'm going to try and be a half glass full person and think of it as great weather to dry laundry.

Last night, I sat down with some of my virtual sewing friends for Friday Night with Friends, hosted by Cheryll at Gone Stitchin'.

I finished the kantha stitches on my Liberty Table Runner and sewed on some lovely Japanese Lawn fabric for the binding. I decided on the lawn fabric because it is fine and wasn't going to add great bulk to the outside of the work.

I am so very pleased with how this table runner turned out. It's a riot of different blues and different scale of flowers/prints. I used 4 different shades of Perle 8 cotton and I think they all blend in and work great together.

I prepared another Liberty improvisational panel yesterday afternoon. I kept to the warmer pinks/reds in my little stash of Liberty fabrics. After sewing on the table runner binding, I started some more stitching on my pink panel while watching "Line of Duty" on Netflix. I do love a British cop show, so if you've seen some good ones lately, I'd love your recommendations.

With hubby away until next weekend (blurgh), I thought I'd have a quiet weekend as both kids had plans (including a cadet bivouac).

Instead, bivouac boy has tonsillitis and is hanging out with his mum feeling sorry for himself.

Girlie girl was meant to go and "hang out" with her friends today and then go on a mum-date to Tella Balls later, but has woken up feeling unwell. Plus, to add to the tragedy, we just found out that Tella Balls (in our local shopping centre) has just closed down.

I guess we'll just have to buy regular donuts and smear Nutella on them ourselves.

I saw this on Facebook this morning and it made me laugh, so I thought I'd leave it here so you could have a little giggle too.

    1. Thank Maria. It really was a joy to work on.
I figure if I can get the house tidied up and the washing done really fast, I can sit and stitch some more this afternoon.

    1. Thanks Deb. It had been a while since I’d joined in FNwF too so this was a good thing to give me a boost to get sewing and photographing what i’d made.

  5. I just love your kantha top. I must do something like that sometime. I love the cop shows too... I couldn't find that one on Netflix though. ABC has Unforgotten on Iview… series 2 which I enjoy.

    1. Whoops! It's not called that at all. It's called 'Line of Duty'. Hubby says that we've already seen it, but I've either forgotten it all or I paid very little attention when it was on (probably sewing or crocheting at the same time). I'll got and have a look at 'Unforgotten'. Thanks for the suggestion.

  9. This runner is sweet, You did a nice job with these liberty scraps. Wellllll done

Sorry about the sick kids. Now, do not get sick yourself, be sure to consume healthy yummy foods like donuts and nutella. That sounds soooo healthy. You know, Mental Health is important too.

This picture is hilarious. It reminds me of when my oldest daughter was pregnant (twice) and used to set her food on her huge belly.
I am grateful that God gave me small boobs :-D
