The Ardently Austen Hexie Pillow

I'll start this post by saying that I am possibly (most probably) the slowest EPPer on the planet. I love EPP and the whole process of slow sewing but I'm super slow at it.

Carolina Moore has a new book out called 'Learn How to English Paper Piece' and when I had the opportunity to review her new book and join in the fun of the blog hop, I just couldn't resist.

Carolina's book is filled with small (bite-sized) EPP projects which is just perfect. I get the joy of English paper piecing and the satisfaction of completing projects which I can then use myself or give to family and friends. Winning!

I looked through the book and changed my mind a couple of times about which project I wanted to make first. Finally, I decided to make the book cover project - the Hexie Pillow.

This pillow (front) is made up of 1.5" hexagons which makes it go together quite quickly (even at my snail-like pace). I used some 'Ardently Austen' fabrics by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs which I've had in my stash.

Once I put the EPP panel together, I hand quilted it with some perle 8 cotton in ecru (my fave). The instructions on the pillow assembly (including a zipper) are very easy to follow and I managed to sew a zipper, right up into the top seam, with no fuss. Yay me!

If you're new to English Paper Piecing or someone like me who already knows how to do it, but isn't super fast, this book is great. You can purchase the book from Nancy's Notions right here.

It's almost the end of the blog hop, so please visit some of the previous bloggers to see what they created from 'Learn How to English Paper Piece' with Carolina Moore and Nancy's Notions.
