EPP Journal Cover

I am the slowest English Paper Piecer in the land… possibly even the universe. Though slow, I am enthusiastic and it doesn’t stop me from wanting to make all of the pretty things. Now on the other side of the EPP wheel is Sharon of Lilabelle Lane Creations who is the most amazing EPPer I know. She’s the fussy cutting queen and did I mention she’s really, REALLY fast!?! I look at her IG feed and the speed in which she shows progress photos and completes her projects is phenomenal. If you’re looking for some EPP inspiration, just go and follow her feed.

Which brings me to Sharon’s beautiful book, 'Quilting on the Go... English Paper Piecing’. It’s a complete guide to the art of English Paper Piecing. The first chapter (30 pages-ish) covers the basics of EPP with tonnes of information coupled with lots of photos and diagrams.

It’s followed up by the projects. 16 beautiful EPP projects suitable for the beginner, to the more advanced (and adventurous) sewists. There is a project for everyone. Small projects to whet your EPP appetite (eg pincushions and placemats). These are cute little makes which would make excellent gifts for your sewing friends. The more intermediate projects take a little longer to piece (eg table runner or cushion) and then there’s the big projects. The Celestial Star quit (cover) is a masterpiece and is a fussy-cutt ers dream. It’s an absolutely stunning quilt and for me, it’s my “one day I’ll make it” quilt.

When Sharon invited me to join her book tour, I was thrilled. I’m such a fan! I decided on the Spring Time Journal Cover because for me, the hexagon is still my favourite shape to paper piece.

The spring time is a lovely little project which - and my little lady has claimed it for herself. The hexagons took me a few evenings to piece together and I enjoyed sewing with these pretty Ellis and Higgs prints. The assembly instructions were excellent and I discovered a new way to put together the cover, which I loved and will use again in future.

If you’d like to purchase “Quilting on the Go… English Paper Piecing”, it’s published by Tuva Publishing and available from Amazon, Book Depository or possibly even your local quilt shop. It’s a wonderful addition to any craft book library or would make a great gift for a sewing friend.
