Sugar Almond Quilt Progress

Coquette by Chez Moi reminds me of sugared almonds.

The colours and sweetness of this new range, remind me of the sweet treats which my grandmother seemed to always have on hand.

Coquette 2

I unravelled a jelly roll of Coquette the other week and have been playing around with it.

My grandmother has just moved into a nursing home, so I’m hoping to have this quilt finished in the next couple of days. I want to go and see her and give this quilt to her. Something to keep her warm and a little something from me.

It’s a fun design and I will post a tutorial on how I made it later in the week (when it’s finished).

Here is the quilt top when I’d just finished it. The photo quality is poor as it was about 10pm and I used my phone camera. I’m not even sure I’d pressed the quilt at this point either.

Yesterday, was all about the basting… it felt like I’d never get it all pinned.

Or maybe I was just procrastinating. Pin basting is the most un-fun part of the quilting process.

I started with the quilt on the floor, but soon got a sore back and sore knees, so I cleared off the dining table, extended it, gave it a quick wipe down and then finished the basting on there.

Much easier on the old back, that’s for sure.

And today, it’s all over Loopity Loop quilting. I have never quilted with just this loopy design all over and I have to say that it is a lot of fun. I’m sure it has a technical name, but I like the sound of Loopity Loop.

With motivation and a bit of luck, I’ll have the quilting finished soon and then I’ll bind it tonight while watching The Voice and The Block. Can I just say that I am hooked on these 2 new shows.

Do you watch The Voice &/or The Block?
