Friday Night with Friends (FNwF)

It was an absolutely beautiful sunny day to end the week. The daytime temperatures over the past couple of days have been in the high teens / low twenties, which is just glorious for mid-winter.

I didn't get as much sewing done with the FNwF girls as I had planned, but I did work on my Gossip in the Garden project.

The evening started out with me making a HUGE pizza for dinner (and lunch/snacking the next day). My oven is a 900 cm and I used the slide-in oven tray for the giant pizza. It's the bottom of the grill tray, so I lined it with baking paper first, which made removing it really easy. The stack of pizza pieces below is from that one pizza.

I've now machine appliqued around the pieces for the main centre block and worked on the hand embroidery. I'm using a perle 8 cotton for this embroidery. It doesn't stitch up as nicely as 8-strand floss, but I didn't have a shade of brown that would work.

I like where this project is headed and I hope to finish of the rest of the stitching this afternoon and then begin work on the next block.

Stop in and visit FNwF host Cheryll and see what everyone got up to creating and making last night.

PS: Also, thank you everyone who left a comment and sent me messages about how a tutorial on how I use word art to create custom lettering. I will try to get one up in the next week or so.

  9. Enjoying reading your blog. I ordered some of that charcoal air purifier. I love to see stitching for quilts and am curious about the thread you are using - the brown. Looks different from anything we have around here, can you tell me the maker of this thread? Love your blanket stitch, looks perfect.
