Orange Peel Temperature Quilt

My orange peel temperature quilt is coming along nicely. January is complete and I'm around a week into February 2020.

I'd prepared the petals a few days ago and pinned them to the backgrounds all ready to applique. I sat down yesterday and while I watched Ozark (have you seen it?), I appliqued the last of the ones I had prepared. The preparation takes a little while but once that's all done, they sew up quite quickly and I'm really enjoying the process.

To keep track of which block is which, I write the date on the back behind the petal. So far, it's working well.

Fun fact - there was one day in January when the low/high temperature didn't vary more than 3 degrees C which is why there's a block that is yellow on yellow. I wonder how many more of these I'll come across through the year.

  1. Orange Peel quilts are a 'go to' for me when I want to create a simple quilt with variety and interest. I am not the best at hand appliqué, so I machine appliqué with a blanket stitch.
Your bright colors are interesting and soothing. Thanks for the reminder about the beauty of this design.

  4. Your quilt is so cheery with those colours. I have seen all seasons of Ozark. A bit dark yet strangely entertaining.
