Candy Quilt Block

On one mystic, magic night,
Jack O Lanterns glowing bright,
kids with bags of candy sweet,
roam door to door and street to street,
all dressed up for trick or treat!

- Patricia L. Cisco

The Candy Quilt Block is one in the new series of Halloween inspired quilt blocks by Nadra of Ellis and Higgs. There are 16 new quilt blocks to sew and celebrate the season.

I love that this block is make up of rectangles & triangles but it looks round. This would make a fabulous quilt, don't you think?

I made the blocks in both the 12" and 6" samples using some contrasting fabrics from my stash. I raided my kids lollipop stash for the props ;-)

You can find this Candy pattern along with all of Nadra's patterns in her Ellis & Higgs Etsy store.

Do you celebrate Halloween at your place?

Here in suburban Australia, we don't really celebrate this holiday, although the stores and supermarkets would lead us to believe that we should.

The parents in my suburb organise Halloween walks (through a Facebook group), for young kids to go out in groups with supervising parents. We can add our address to the list if we have sweets to hand out to the little dressed up characters who come knocking.

  2. That block would look good in a tablerunner as well.

    1. Yes I agree. It’d even be great in red/green white for a Christmas peppermint version.
