It's been a little while since I stopped in here at my little blog. After a fast and furious five weeks of travelling, I've enjoyed a quite wonderful week at home. Even though I've had a cold and a cough that doesn't seem to want to go away, just being home, around my own things, has been perfect.

Travelling is exciting and making wonderful memories with my family has been precious, but I must admit that I missed the little things at home and have really enjoyed getting back into the daily routines.

Some of the home comforts I'm so grateful to return to are the everyday things... I've loved coming home and cooking meals in my own kitchen. Having easy access to my washing machine and dryer. Being able to spread our things out, rather than live out of a suitcase. Spending time in my sewing room. My lovely bed and especially my pillows. My shower.

I've spent the week trying to get my sleep routine back in to this timezone - but it's also included a lot of early nights and very early mornings. These pre-dawn hours have given me the time to crochet row upon row of my Granny Stripe Blanket. I've missed working on this project. It sits in a large beach bag (with flamingos) in the living room, beside my seat on the couch. I pick it up most evenings and crochet a row or two before sleepiness takes over.

The balls of yarn are beginning to get quite thin, floppy (and a little messy) so it's probably time I rewind them and keep them easy to use. I'm going to keep growing this blanket until I run out of yarn. It's getting to a good size and it's going to be lovely to snuggle under as the weather really cools down.

The ends will need to be weaved in, but that'll be a problem I'll tackle at a later date.

I still have so much to catch-up on our holiday and I really hope to have a couple of holiday posts up very soon (before I begin to forget the details). It'll be lovely for me (and my family) to be able to look back on our adventures. I love looking back at my crafty posts, but also, I love seeing family posts. Old adventures and pictures of everyone looking much, much younger.

  1. Your granny blanket is just lovely..... all the colours go so well. I know what you mean about travelling and getting back home.... It's amazing how we get so used to those little things - like where you keep the shampoo in the shower!
