Meow Door Stop

Chester, my cat, lives in my laundry. Well, in saying this, his litter tray and food bowls are in the laundry. He "lives" all over the house... and by "lives", I mean sleeps.

The laundry has another door which then leads out to the side garden and washing line. When I open this outside door, the inside door always blows closed.

Now that I’ve given you the back ground to the architecture of my laundry, I thought I’d share with you my Meow Doorstop. It will sit in front of the internal laundry door and hopefully stop the door from slamming shut… well, hopefully.

I made it using the ‘Bonjour Paris Doorstop’ pattern by Lisa Cox, from her book, A Spoonful of Sugar: Sew 20 Simple Projects to Sweeten Your Surroundings Zakka Style. The fabric I used is by Sarah Watts called “From Porto with Love” by Cotton & Steel (RJR Fabrics). These cat prints (on canvas) just spoke to me and since the door stop was for the cat room, well, it was a given.

I used the selvedge to make the top handle. Seeing is my background is Portuguese, I thought it was quite fitting.
