Monkey Business Quilt

Monkey Business is the new FREE quilt pattern in the Sew Solid series, by the Fat Quarter Shop.

From the moment I saw the pattern, I couldn't resist. Monkeys are one of my favourite animals... after cats, of course.

I created my monkey in pink - because we all know that pink is the sweetest colour for a monkey. This quilt does have a lot of pieces and you can tackle it a couple of ways. Follow the instructions and cut up all of the pieces and then use alphabitties to keep them all organised. Or, do as I did, cut as you go. It's not necessarily the most organised way, but hey, I jumped in head first (as is my way).

The instructions along with the images are easy to follow, making this a great pattern for any skill level. After the quilt top was complete, I sandwiched it with the batting and backing and spray basted it all together. I contemplated echo quilting or straight line quilting, but in the end I went with a free motion, loopy quilting design. I used Aurifil 50wt in a light grey (#2615) both piece, and quilt. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

  1. I love the combination of the pink monkey with the stripy binding.
You are far ahead. I still have to decide how to quilt mine.
