WINNERS: JODY J, MARGARET C, HILARY, KEL KELLY
Dr Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is a rather introverted scientist at the Department of Fisheries and Agriculture. He suddenly has his world thrown into turmoil thanks to a fly-fishing obsessed Yemeni Sheikh (Amr Waked) who dreams of achieving the seemingly impossible – introducing salmon to the wadis of the Yemen.
With the British government desperate for a good news story in the area, the Prime Ministers fearsome spokesperson (Kristin Scott Thomas) seizes the idea and appoints the incredulous Dr Fred to oversee the project.
He is eventually won over by the charismatic Sheikh and his representative, Harriet (Emily Blunt). With her encouragement and support, Fred embarks upon a journey of self discover and late blooming love to bring salmon fishing to the Yemen.
Salmon Fishing in The Yemen is an absolute joy to watch. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I switched it on, but I truly loved it. It’s a sweet film with so much heart. Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt are wonderful in their roles, but I especially liked Amr Waked as the Sheikh.
It’s unpredictable, humorous with a few tears thrown in for good measure.
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is now available to own on DVD or Blu Ray and is rated M.
Thanks to Roadshow, I have FOUR (4) copies of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen on DVD, to giveaway.
